Dickhead Watch: Emo

Just caught Miranda Devine pretending to know what the young ones are into.

'Gen Ys have also discovered ways to keep at least some of their culture to themselves. Inventive with slang, they coined terms such as "emo" - meaning something like an emotionally dysfunctional, melancholy person, though it defies precise translation. Perhaps only a gen Y can really understand what an emo is.'

'Emo' is not a noun. Miranda Devine, you are a dickhead.

This is up there with Mark Latham and his skanky ho remarks. If you don't know what a word means- don't use it. Kapich.

I probably shouldn't be going people on spelling, grammar and punctuation. This blog is a testament to my own shiteness in that deparatment!

But then again, I'm not writing for the SMH am I.

who cares if columnists are semantically challenged...

it's that the premise of her peice is defining the boundaries between them-us.
the difference between 'gen y' and 'x' is as much socialogical importance as the difference between a scorpio and a capricorn.

bleh. don't label me, as soon as you do i'll change.

I had an amusing online encounter with the Miranda hotmail spambot a few months back. Who gives flying toss what the silly cow thinks. She's in Sydney, so who gives a fuck anyway.

The woman is challenged. Not by anything substantial but simply by the fact that she has no idea. I am not sure what generation I belong to, but her howling diatribes are just embarrassing.

Purely by coincidence I typed "Miranda Devine is a Dickhead" to see what would come up. It seems a lot of people have the same distaste for her oblivious reporting!

BTW: as an aside, well done for the biking piece :)
