"Himself Bob Hawke"
Just watching The Australian's feed of the debate. Tell it like it is Kevin... finally someone steps up to the Libs and brings up John Howard's appalling record as treasurer and Labour's golden period of economic reform in the 80's.
Brilliant interjection when moderator David Speers told the audience to be quiet:
"Are you reprimanding the treasurer?" -K Rudd
KEVIN 07!

The moderator was actually telling the Treasurer to be quiet!!!
What a dickhead interjecting at a leaders debate :D
I think Rudd bringing up the economic acheivements of Keating will never do much to help their support, contrary to Keatings claims.
People who understand the Keating years are not swinging voters. And swinging voters don't care about such things as macroeconomics during the late 80s and early 90s. They are interested in tax cuts, petrol prices, morgage repayments etc etc.
(I often find swinging voters very selfish.. they are like a muddled up JFK qoute.)

But what he is trying to do is make Howard seem less credible when he prattles on about all his economic achievements. It is to neutralise the issue of macro-economic management with people who don't understand it. Not to win votes. Same with all that stuff about 22% interest rates when Howard was treasurer.
