Barney's training week makes total sense if you look at it from the perspective of (i) what he is training for and (ii) how much training history he has and the miles he has logged in the past year and a bit.
Whereas Josh Horowitz is talking shit. In lots of different ways.
Just because you don't know exercise science doesn't mean you are training unscientifically. And just because you have a scientific sounding theory doesn't mean it is empirically validated.
Look at it this way: Barney is getting his volume to the point where he can handle the Warny, and almost all the riding he does is of a general aerobic nature - from solid endurance pace up to threshold. Golden. And specific.
Then the racing provides his intensity. Also golden. Also specific.
