Don't worry, according to virologists there should be a new strain of pandemic influenza (remember the spanish flu of 1918) that will spread globally coming along soon. Some estimated figures:
infected people at 1,600-3,000 million, deaths will range from 5-60 million if the strain is not very pathogenic to 20-500 million if the strain is highly pathogenic.
Don't worry, there is no vaccine, and by the time one is made the virus would have spread globally, plus the virus is likely to be too pathogenic to be grown in chicken embryos (how we normally get the flu vaccine). But our faithful government is currently stockpiling anti-virals so these will no doubt be given to the most valuble members of society, or parhaps not...
